Starting July 2, the German low-cost airline Eurowings will begin operating direct scheduled flights between Cologne and Tbilisi. The new route will run twice a week – every Tuesday and Thursday- with Airbus A320 aircraft. This addition will significantly expand direct air connectivity between Georgia and Germany – states United Airports of Georgia.
According to Levan Moseshvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgia under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, The introduction of the Cologne–Tbilisi–Cologne route by Eurowings is highly significant for Georgia’s aviation sector.
“This completely new destination for Tbilisi Airport will contribute to increased tourist flows, as well as strengthen and support the development of the business sector,” Moseshvili stated.
Eurowings entered the Georgian aviation market in 2021 with flights from Düsseldorf, followed by the addition of the Stuttgart–Tbilisi route the following year. The airline offers three main fare categories: BASIC, SMART, and BIZclass allowing passengers to choose services tailored to their needs.
