The Bulgarian parliament supports granting Georgia The EU Candidate status
During the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili to Sofia, the Parliament of Bulgaria adopted a declaration, which is in favour for granting Georgia the EU candidate status (The Declaration was initiated by two former prime ministers. It was supported by both parties of the coalition).
The Declaration firmly supports Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which is based on the historical choice of the Georgian people and which will provide an additional guarantee of the country's security. The document states that the broad public support for Georgia's geopolitical choice makes the country's European integration indispensable.
The Declaration condemns the occupation of Georgian territories by Russia.
In the document, the Bulgarian side once again expresses its unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and emphasizes the role of Georgia as an important partner country in the South Caucasus and the Black Sea region.
According to the Declaration, Bulgaria attaches special importance to its stable and successful neighbours, especially amid the current security environment in the Black Sea region.
Bulgaria also expresses its readiness to help Georgia carry out its democratic reforms.
