Kaspi HPP: New 22-mw hydropower plant planned on Mtkvari River
The run-of-the-river hydropower plant will have an installed capacity of 22.4 megawatts and is expected to generate approximately 90.2 million kWh of electricity annually.
Hydroelectric power plant “Kaspi HPP” is planned to be built on the Mtkvari River in Kaspi Municipality. Feasibility study of the project has already been published on the environmental assessment portal. The project is being implemented by LLC “NC 2022”.
“Kaspi HPP” is a run-of-the-river type hydroelectric power plant with an installed capacity of 22.4 megawatts. According to the project, the average annual electricity generation will be 90.2 million kWh.
The infrastructure of the hydroelectric power plant includes a dam, a power unit, a fish pass, bank protection walls and water intake structures.
According to the scoping report, the project will have an impact on the environment, including the hydrological regime of the river, ichthyofauna and the surrounding ecosystem. The project includes measures to reduce environmental impact, including the construction of a fish pass.
According to the business registry, the company "NC 2022" was founded in 2022, its director is Gocha Museliani, who is also the director of the company "Imer Energy Capital". The company plans to build a cascade of Dzevra hydroelectric power plants on the Dzevra River in the Terjola municipality of Imereti. The owner of both "NC 2022" and "Imer Energy Capital" is businessman Koka Kokolashvili.
